INDEPENDENT THIRD PARTY/SAFE SPORT SUPPORT

Lise Maclean is a HR consultant, retained by Water Polo Canada, to function as its Independent Third Party (ITP) and Safe Sport Officer.  Effective May 1st, you may contact Ms. Maclean as the first point of contact for issues related to neglect or physical, sexual or psychological maltreatment in sport under Alberta Water Polo's policies.  Your contact with the ITP is confidential, subject to certain legal limits.  She will review your concern and support you with next steps. You should try to address your issue at the club level before contacting the ITP.   The ITP will deal only with safe sport complaints and not administrative issues, such as team or coach selection, club policies, finances, or governance. The existence of the ITP does not prevent you from contacting Alberta Water Polo directly, if that is your preference.

• The ITP will act as a neutral third party and first point of contact under Alberta Water Polo safe sport, code of conduct, complaint policy or other relevant policies. The existence of the ITP does not prevent parties from contacting AWPA directly with complaints if they are comfortable with the process. If AWPA receives the complaint directly, it can be managed through our policies or forward it to an Independent Third Party.
