Alberta Water Polo Summer Coach Academy
The Alberta Water Polo Association is committed to the development, education, well-being and support of our coaches. As such, we are pleased to continue with our virtual Coach Academy! In the summer of 2020, AWPA has put together a series of professional development opportunities to provide coaches with additional resources to enhance their delivery and competence within the field of coaching. The topics were:
Navigating Social MediaCoaching Language and Communication
Sport Psychology
Behavioural Challenges and Learning Disabilities
Ensuring a Safe Sport Environment
NEW: In Alberta Water Polo's second, three part virtual series will cover topics such as how to identify goalie potential, what a goalie practice should look like at different ages, goalie specific drills, technical corrections, and the mental mindset. This series you equip coaches with a better understanding of goalie training and give coaches some additional resources.
The three instructors who will be leading the series have a wealth of experience coaching goalies at all different levels from grassroots to the senior national team level.
